IHG to open new hotel in Colombia by Cheap Flights Booker UK

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed an agreement that will lead to an expansion of its portfolio in South America.

The company will manage a new-build InterContinental hotel in Cartagena, Colombia that is scheduled to open in early 2013.

Guests will be accommodated in 280 rooms in the new property, which will be located in the city"s Bocagrande district.

The hotel is set to be a central element of a substantial new development including a casino, retail outlets and restaurants and will provide facilities including a spa, fitness centre and meeting rooms.

Jim Anhut, IHG"s chief development officer in the Americas, said: "Our InterContinental Hotels and Resorts brand has been a part of Colombia for more than 50 years."

He added: "We value the opportunity to expand our portfolio and I"ve no doubt that the InterContinental Cartagena will be a triumph."

Cartagena is located on Colombia"s northern coast and is famous for landmarks such as the San Felipe fortress, which is a Unesco World Heritage site.
