Qantas unveils giant scarf to show support for Socceroos by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Qantas arranged a special event on the famous Bondi Beach in Sydney this week to show its support for Australia"s national football side, who are currently competing in the Fifa World Cup in South Africa.

The airline has been collecting messages of encouragement for the Socceroos on its website, with each note adding an extra 10cm to its "scarf of support".

Over 8,000 messages have been submitted, meaning the scarf measured an impressive 800 metres and stretched almost the entire length of Bondi Beach.

It was unveiled by hundreds of Australian football supporters, including former player Steve Corica.

He said: "It"s great to see the Australian fans come out and support the boys today and it"s fantastic to see the messages of support continue to pour in for the team.

"The team will see the coverage in South Africa and will get an extra boost for their match against Ghana."

Australia were on the receiving end of a 4-0 thrashing by Germany in their first game and will play Ghana in Rustenburg tomorrow (19 June).
