BAA Welcomes Airport Plans
BAA welcomes airport plans by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Airport operator BAA has welcomed new government plans to change the way the aviation industry is regulated in the UK.
Transport secretary Philip Hammond announced measures that are designed to ensure that the interests of passengers are prioritised and that airports become "better, not bigger".
One of the main developments relates to the Civil Aviation Authority, which will be responsible for protecting consumer interests and promoting investment that will provide benefits for the travelling public.
In response to the new measures, BAA said: "Today"s announcement reflects the very constructive consultation process undertaken by the Department for Transport last year and provides clarity on the package of measures that government will take forward in new legislation to promote both the interests of passengers and investment in Britain"s airports."
The plans have not been universally welcomed, however, with easyJet saying that they rely too much on the CAA and do not create a framework to ensure that airports are built around the needs of passengers.
