Britons Taking Staycations To Save Money

Britons "taking staycations to save money" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

The rising popularity of "staycations" over the past couple of years is partly down to British consumers" desire to save money, according to a new survey.

R3, the trade body for insolvency professionals, released a report showing that 38% of Brits are trying to spend less on their holidays this year and 56% of this group are cutting back by taking a domestic break.

Frances Coulson, the organisation"s vice-president, suggested that holidaymakers would prefer to travel abroad if they did not have to worry about money.

"The current trend for staycations has been around for a few years, but the research highlights that the staycation"s popularity has grown as a result of necessity, rather than choice," she said.

"Quite simply, many people can no longer afford to spend as much on their holidays as before."

The survey by GfK NOP found that the over-65s are the least likely to be reducing holiday costs this year, with only 22% trying to spend less on going away.

Cost-cutting methods such as booking flights with a budget airline and spending less on eating out were found to be popular among travellers between the ages of 16 and 24.
