El Yunque forest "easily accessible" to Puerto Rico visitors by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Anna Catchpole of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company was speaking about the rainforest after it was announced as one of the shortlisted sites in the New 7 Wonders of Nature campaign.

"The El Yunque rainforest is extremely accessible to visitors as it is less than an hour"s drive from the capital of San Juan. Visitors can either explore the forest themselves or can enjoy one of the guided tours," she said.

"El Yunque is very easy to explore and gives visitors a true taste of what a tropical forest has to offer. It is also the only tropical rainforest in the US National Forest system."

The site is one of 28 finalists in the New 7 Wonders of Nature programme, along with Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, Table Mountain in South Africa, the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland and others.

Travellers can get to Puerto Rico by taking flights to San Juan, which are available with carriers such as American Airlines, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.
