Inter-terminal shuttle launched at London Gatwick by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Catching flights from London Gatwick airport could be a more enjoyable experience this summer following today"s (1 July) opening of an inter-terminal shuttle.

The service, which is the first major phase in a £1bn modernisation programme at the airport, has opened two months ahead of schedule in time for the busy summer holiday season.

Former Nasa astronaut and Gatwick board member James van Hoften joined staff and members of the public for the launch of the shuttle, which will operate between the north and south terminals.

Passengers will benefit from features including extra seating, live journey information and technology that counts the number of people waiting at the station and triggers the operation of the trains.

Gatwick chief executive Stewart Wingate said: "Today is an important milestone as we compete to make Gatwick London"s airport of choice for passengers and airlines.

"It is a testament to the hard work and skill of the teams involved that our new shuttle is up and running for our passengers ahead of the busy summer period."

Other areas set to benefit from the airport"s ongoing investment programme include the south terminal departure lounge, security zones and baggage systems.
