Post Office reveals "holiday rip-offs" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Post Office Travel Money has revealed the results of a survey to find the top holiday "rip-offs", which asked parents to list their main financial concerns on an overseas break.
More than half (56%) of people with children aged 16 and under said mobile phone roaming costs were their biggest gripe, followed by fees for using debit or credit cards overseas (52%) and baggage charges (47%).
The research also found that holiday costs can vary widely in different destinations, with hiring a sun lounger for half a day costing as little as £1.80 in some parts of Spain, compared to £11.71 in Italy.
Family meals have seen the biggest fall in price since last year, according to the survey, dropping by 47% in Portugal"s Algarve, 20% in Cyprus and 17% in Greece.
Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Money, said: "There is plenty families can do to avoid getting stung on holiday.
"They should check excursion and attraction prices online before they go to avoid the most expensive and they should also pack kids" beach items that could break the holiday budget if bought overseas."
