Qatar Airways begins Asian expansion with Tokyo flights by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Qatar Airways has announced the beginning of an expansion drive in Asia following the successful launch of flights to Tokyo.

The airline revealed that its link from Doha to Japan"s capital city, which began operating in April, has been one of the company"s most successful routes in its first two months.

It was announced recently that the carrier will launch new flights to Phuket in Thailand and Hanoi in Vietnam from its hub in Qatar in October and November respectively.

Frequency between Doha and Bangkok will also be increased to three daily services, offering greater access to south-east Asia for people travelling via the Middle East.

Akbar Al Baker, the airline"s chief executive officer, said: "Qatar Airways is seeing strong demand for air travel from the entire Asian region and is planning to open up a number of new routes in this vibrant region.

"The Asian market as a whole is one of our biggest in terms of revenue generation and Japan is very much part of our success story in Asia."

Qatar Airways has also expanded into South America this year, with the launch of new flights to Buenos Aires, Argentina and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
