Travellers Take Â7bn Worth Of Gadgets On Holiday
Travellers "take Â7bn worth of gadgets on holiday" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Consumers have been reminded of the importance of insurance after a survey found that UK travellers will take more than £7bn worth of electronic kit on holiday this summer.
AXA carried out a study which revealed that the average British adult will take £424 worth of gadgets on their break, with phones, laptops, mp3 players, cameras and camcorders among the most popular items.
Around three quarters (77%) of people will arrange travel insurance before setting off, according to the survey, meaning some £1.61 billion worth of travellers" belongings will not be covered.
Amanda Edwards from AXA said: "Our lifestyles are changing and we are carrying more and more high value, electronic items with us when we leave our homes - not just when we go on holiday.
"Unfortunately, these items are also very attractive to thieves and if you go anywhere without adequate insurance or fail to look after your property carefully outside the home you could find yourself footing a fairly hefty bill to replace it."
The poll revealed that nearly 90% of people will take a mobile phone on holiday this year, while only 58% will take a watch and 48% will pack jewellery.
