The Caribbean island of Aruba is becoming a "firm favourite" for travellers from the UK, the local tourist board has revealed.
With a total of 5,921 arrivals in the first six months of 2010, Aruba is now one of the top ten destinations in the Caribbean for British holidaymakers.
The figure represents an increase of 8.7% from the first six months of last year.
Aruba enjoyed a record year in 2009, with UK visitor numbers rising 28.3% and surpassing 10,000 for the first time.
The island is known for its celebrity appeal, with Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson recently spotted at Japanese restaurant Sushi-Ya in central Oranjestad, where he watched games being played at the 2010 World Cup.
Tom Cruise, Ben Affleck, Sarah Jessica Parker and Alicia Keys are among the stars who have enjoyed a break in Aruba in the past.
Holidaymakers can reach the Caribbean destination by catching flights with Martinair, British Airways, Delta and other carriers.
