Flybe and Finnair have reached an agreement that will see the former operate flights in the Scandinavia and Baltic Sea regions.
The partnership will begin on October 31st with the launch of Flybe services from Helsinki to key destinations such as Tampere and Turku in Finland and Tallinn in Estonia.
Further aircraft are set to be deployed to increase the capacity available in the region in summer 2011.
Ville Iho, Finnair"s senior vice-president of resources management, said Flybe"s fleet and production structure make it a "highly suitable" partner for cooperation on short routes.
Jim French, chairman and chief executive of the UK airline, said: "This is an exciting time for Flybe and this is a further exciting development. Finnair is one of Europe"s oldest, most respected and dynamic airlines.
"We look forward to serving the Scandinavian and Baltic markets in partnership with Finnair. We also look forward to exploring deeper cooperation with Finnair to develop Nordic market entry strategies."
The Scandinavian carrier operates an extensive network of services between Europe and Asia that includes flights to Tokyo, Hong Kong and Seoul.
