Heathrow backing England"s World Cup bid by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Heathrow airport has confirmed its role as an official supporter of England"s bid to host the Fifa World Cup in 2018.

BAA announced that the base will provide operational and planning support to the team running the campaign as well as a range of special facilities for international delegates arriving in London during the process.

With 90 airlines providing connections to more than 180 international destinations, Heathrow stated that it would play a key role in welcoming fans from all over the world if the country is successful in its bid.

Nick Cullen, the airport"s chief operating officer, said: "We are delighted to be a part of the squad aiming to bring the World Cup to England in 2018 and our people will be working hard to ensure that we provide the very best service we can to all our passengers, but especially the many important visitors to London during the bid process and beyond."

South Africa welcomed supporters from across the globe for the World Cup this year and Brazil will be the host country for the next tournament in 2014.
