Heathrow records busiest ever month by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Airport operator BAA has announced that London Heathrow experienced the busiest month in its history in July.

Some 6.7m people passed through the base over the 31-day period, 3.5% more than last year.

Sunday 18 July represented the peak of the activity and was the busiest day ever recorded at Heathrow, with some 232,000 travellers making journeys through the airport.

The London hub accounted for nearly two-thirds of all passenger traffic at BAA"s airports in July, with more than 10.9m people passing through the company"s six UK bases during the month, 0.3% more than the previous year.

Edinburgh handled more than 961,000 travellers last month, marking a year-on-year increase of 0.6% and bringing its total figure for the first half of 2010 to 4.8m people.

It was announced this week that Heathrow would be backing England"s bid to host the Fifa World Cup in 2018 and will provide operational and planning support to the campaign team.
