New guide to highlight "great escapes" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Rough Guides will be launching a new book this year providing details of 500 of the world"s "most inspiring" holidays.

Great Escapes by Richard Hammond and Jeremy Smith will give readers information and advice on how to get off the beaten track and discover more authentic travel experiences.

A number of unusual accommodation options will feature in the guide, including a "star bed" in Kenya, a lighthouse in Turkey, a geodesic dome in Chile and a Canadian eco-sphere.

Readers will also be able to learn more about different people and communities found in holiday destinations throughout the world, from Sardinian shepherds to the Bedouin in Jordan.

Recommended options for wildlife enthusiasts include watching meerkats in South Africa, looking out for pink dolphins in Hong Kong and seeing mountain gorillas in Rwanda.

Great Escapes will be published on 1 October.
