See a giant mechanical octopus in London by Cheap Flights Booker UK

A unique installation described by organisers of the London Design Festival as an "immense mechanical octopus" will go on display in Trafalgar Square next month.

The exhibit, which is part of the Outrace project devised by designers Clemens Weisshaar and Reed Kramm, will be on view from 16 to 24 September.

Members of the public can book a slot online to interact with the installation and take control of eight industrial robots borrowed from the production line of car manufacturer Audi.

LED technology from the Audi R15 race car features on the robots, meaning users can trace light messages in the air as they move the structures around.

Each trace will be recorded on high-definition cameras and uploaded to the web.

The London Design Festival will run from 18 to 26 September this year and will also include a series of displays at the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Serpentine Gallery and other venues.
