Glasgow has been chosen as the location for Tesco"s first airport store.
The UK"s largest retailer is set to open a new Tesco Express outlet at the base later this year and will cater for departing and returning travellers on both business and leisure trips, as well as airport staff.
Dairy products, ready meals, sandwiches, snacks and drinks will be among the products on sale at the store, which will be open round the clock.
"This is great news and I"m very proud that Tesco, which is undoubtedly one of the strongest brands around today, have chosen to open their first airport store here at Glasgow airport," said Amanda McMillan, managing director of the base.
"Tesco"s presence will totally transform a prominent space in the domestic arrivals area and improve the overall choice available to our passengers and staff in the terminal."
Tony McElroy, Tesco"s corporate affairs manager, said the company was "delighted" to be making the investment and bringing about 20 new jobs to the airport.
It was also announced recently that Icelandair will be increasing its number of weekly flights to Reykjavik from Glasgow from 12 September to 26 October this year and 12 April to 6 June 2011.
