Thousands of visitors set to welcome A380 to Manchester by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Manchester airport is expecting to host thousands of visitors on 1 September to welcome the Airbus A380, which will be touching down at the base for the first time.

Emirates will be bringing the superjumbo to the airport to commence a new daily service from Manchester to Dubai.

The Runway Visitor Park will be opened at 08:00 on the day to accommodate the crowds of spectators.

Andrew Cornish, managing director of the airport, said visitors will have a "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity to witness the arrival of the A380, an occasion he likened to Concorde"s last flight to Manchester.

"We"re looking forward to welcoming thousands of people to the airport to be a part of this historic event, especially in the school holidays and with the park being voted one of the top tourist attractions for the north-west," he added.

"There will be plenty of opportunities to come see the A380 as from 1 September onward it will be operating a daily service into Manchester, but this is a really significant day for aviation here in the north-west and we aim to celebrate it appropriately."

Emirates also uses the A380 to operate regular flights from London Heathrow to Dubai.
