American Airlines launches Wi-Fi Widget for mobiles by Cheap Flights Booker UK
American Airlines has announced that its Wi-Fi Widget tool is now available to users of internet-enabled mobile devices.
The application allows customers to check within 24 hours of departure whether their flight will provide wireless internet connectivity.
First launched on the airline"s website in November 2009, the service has been extended to the mobile market after proving popular among travellers.
To use it, customers simply have to log on to American Airlines" Wi-Fi Widget page on their mobile device and enter their flight number or departure airport to see if their aircraft will provide web access.
Rob Friedman, the carrier"s vice president of marketing, said: "We know our customers are mobile by definition and having information they want and need on the go can simplify and enhance the travel experience for them.
"The Wi-Fi Widget has been a customer favourite since it launched … and now we"re excited to see this functionality more accessible to our customers wherever they are in their travel experience."
In August 2008, American Airlines became the first US carrier to launch the Gogo inflight internet service, making Wi-Fi available on domestic flights across the country.
