BA Launches Save The Postcard Campaign
BA launches "save the postcard" campaign by Cheap Flights Booker UK
High Life, British Airways" inflight magazine, has launched a campaign to "save the postcard".
The initiative was introduced on the back of survey results which suggest that travellers are increasingly using text messages and email to keep in touch with people at home rather than postcards.
In a bid to save what it describes as "one of the great travel traditions", High Life has invited famous figures such as Sienna Miller, David Bailey, Gordon Ramsay and Manolo Blahnik to design their own postcards.
The creations will be auctioned on High Life"s website from 17:30 BST on 29 September to 1 November, with all proceeds going to Flying Start, BA"s charity partnership with Comic Relief.
British modern artist Tracey Emin will also be taking part in the campaign, designing her own postcard and guest-editing the magazine"s October issue.
Emin said: "My father would send me postcards from every place he went, so I could share the magic of his journey as the postcard landed on the floor.
"I am a big postcard sender, mainly pictures of cute kittens or little animals. In this day and age, when so many people text and email, I am asking you to revive the tradition of the postcard."
