Bristol Airport Expansion Will Help Passengers And Environment
Bristol airport expansion "will help passengers and environment" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Bristol airport has highlighted the benefits of a planned expansion of the base, which is currently being considered by North Somerset Council.
The secretary of state has decided not to call in a planning application to develop the airport, a move that was welcomed by managers and described as a "vote of confidence" in the consultation process being carried out by the local authority.
Robin Sinclair, chief executive officer at Bristol airport, said the decision to allow the council to determine the application is a "major step in the right direction".
He added: "Approval of these proposals recognises the airport"s vital contribution to regional prosperity, while also ensuring that environmental considerations are addressed.
"The plans provide a blueprint for the long-term development of Bristol airport and will allow us to provide more services from Bristol, which will reduce car journeys to other airports, and also grow inbound tourism to the south-west."
If the expansion goes ahead, travellers will benefit from improved car parking and a larger terminal.
Construction could begin in 2011.
