Croatia A Top Choice For Brits Heading To Europe
Croatia "a top choice" for Brits heading to Europe by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Post Office Travel Money has released a report showing that Croatia was a "winning choice" for UK holidaymakers heading to Europe this summer.
The Croatian kuna overtook the Bulgarian lev in the list of the bestselling currencies between June and August 2010 and was also ranked as one of the ten fastest-growing currencies for the second consecutive year.
Sterling experienced a strong recovery against the kuna in the 12 months from summer 2009, meaning Britons got more for their money in popular holiday destinations such as Dubrovnik and Split this year.
The Post Office revealed that the Scandinavian countries of Sweden and Denmark were the summer"s "most surprising success", with demand for their currencies rising 25% and 19% respectively in August compared to the same month in 2009.
Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Money, said: "In spite of the improving exchange rate and lower resort costs, it seems that some holidaymakers were still reluctant to travel to the eurozone, which helped to boost demand elsewhere in Europe.
"Croatia has been gaining ground as a result for some time but other successes - like the strong Scandinavian performance - came as more of a surprise."
The organisation"s list of the ten fastest-growing currencies between June and August this year was topped by the Brazilian real, the Dominican peso oro and the Indonesian rupiah.
