The Belgian city of Bruges will come to life with the sounds of jazz this year when it hosts a biennial festival.

Jazz Brugge will return to the scenic tourist destination from 30 September to 3 October.

First held in 2002 when Bruges was a European Capital of Culture, the festival will be celebrating its fifth outing this year.

It will feature performances by groups and artists from all over the world, such as the Viktor Toth Trio, Keith Tippett and Il Vino All"Opera on the first day.

British jazz musician Courtney Pine and the Brussels Jazz Orchestra will be playing on 2 October, followed by Delirium, De Bankroet Jazz and other acts on the final day.

All of the shows will be staged at two venues - the Concertgebouw and Memling in Sint-Jan.
