International flights proving popular from Bristol by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Bristol airport"s international flights have been proving popular among travellers this summer, new figures suggest.

The airport revealed that passenger numbers increased by 1.42% year-on-year in August, while international traffic rose 3.32% last month compared to August 2009.

Growth was recorded despite challenges such as the air traffic control strikes in France, which had an effect on some European services.

More than 680,000 people travelled through Bristol airport in August 2010, bringing the total number of passengers for the year so far to nearly 4m.

Aviation director Shaun Browne said: "These results follow an announcement by Flybe that it will operate a twice-daily service between Bristol and Belfast City from November.

"We hope to have further good news for travellers soon as we look to build the south-west"s connectivity to key destinations across the world."

The range of international destinations accessible from Bristol includes New York, Prague and Paris.

Flights are provided by carriers such as Continental Airlines, easyJet and Air France.
