CityJet, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Air France-KLM group, is set to launch a new route from London City airport to Florence, Italy.
The carrier announced that it would provide six weekly flights to the destination from January 10th 2011.
While the route will officially launch next year, limited services will be available over the Christmas period for holidaymakers who want to enjoy the festive season in scenic Tuscany.
Christine Ourmieres, chief executive of CityJet, described Florence as a "great addition" to the carrier"s expanding European network.
She added: "London City airport is London"s most central and user-friendly airport, and more and more Londoners are discovering it"s also the perfect gateway to a relaxed long weekend.
"Now with our convenient Florence schedule and 15-minute check-in, CityJet customers can travel hassle-free from the heart of London to the heart of Tuscany, spending less time at airports and more time enjoying their trip."
Florence is famous for its culture and history, boasting attractions such as the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, also known as the Duomo, and the Uffizi Gallery.
