American Airlines and Japan Airlines sign new agreement by Cheap Flights Booker UK
A new joint venture between American Airlines and Japan Airlines has been approved by the US department of transportation.
Under the Open Skies agreement, Japan Airlines will begin operating new daily flights from Haneda to San Francisco and Honolulu from 31st October , while American Airlines will commence a daily service between New York and Haneda on 20th January next year.
The airlines hope that the new alliance will increase flight services between the US and Japan, while maintaining quality and providing a more comprehensive service to passengers.
Tsutomu Ando, executive officer of international affairs at Japan Airlines, said the carrier will cooperate more closely with its US partner to achieve common goals.
"These new opportunities afforded by developments in the aviation landscape in Japan will allow us to optimise flight schedules [and] pricing, and enhance operational efficiency to ultimately benefit customers," he said.
Will Ris, senior vice-president of government affairs at American Airlines, added that the agreement will benefit both US and Japanese economies, provide more travel choices and promote increased cultural exchange.
