"Great value" winter sun breaks in eurozone countries by Cheap Flights Booker UK

David Swann, a currency strategist with the company, pointed out that the pound is currently 6% up on the euro year-on-year, despite recently dropping to a five-month low.

This means that a UK traveller exchanging £500 will receive an extra €32 this year.

"So this could mean that popular eurozone destinations, like Spain and Greece, could provide holidaymakers wanting some half-term winter sun great value, especially when combined with some of the cut-price holidays on offer," Mr Swann said.

Those looking further afield could consider America, which is also offering good value for money for people travelling from the UK.

"Sterling has just hit an eight-month high against the US dollar, so the US is sure to be a popular destination outside the eurozone," the currency expert explained.

Other countries recommended on the basis of their affordability include Croatia, Kenya and Trinidad and Tobago.
