Holidaymakers using Google Street View to check out destinations by Cheap Flights Booker UK

More people are using Google Street View to check out potential holiday destinations before booking flights.

That is according to research by CouponCodes4U, which revealed that a third of people use the free internet service to check out prospective holiday hotspots.

With Google Street View available in countries around the world, it is likely that Europeans are also starting to use it as a tool to help them pick out holiday destinations.

Respondents to the survey explained that it gives them a good view of what a town or city will look like, with almost half believing the images would help them decide if a destination represented good value for money.

A quarter also said that they often return to previous holiday destinations, while more than half said they compare locations and prices before booking.

Mike Pearson, chairman of CouponCodes4U, said: "Google is such a huge brand now that it comes as no surprise to me that it has become so trusted that members of the public will use it while making such huge decisions."

Last month, the service was debuted in South America, allowing holidaymakers to check out street views in Brazil. Google also plans to map Antarctica.
