India Named Asias Top Destination At World Travel Awards

India named Asia"s top destination at World Travel Awards by Cheap Flights Booker UK

The 2010 World Travel Award winners for Asia were announced at a ceremony in Delhi yesterday (14 October), with India picking up the accolade for the top destination.

Malaysia Airlines also enjoyed success at the event, receiving the leading airline and top business class carrier awards.

Korean Air was voted the leading first class airline in Asia.

The accolade for the best honeymoon resort in the region went to Six Senses Hideaway in Samui, Thailand, while the Trident Gurgaon in India picked up the leading hotel award.

Other winners included Singapore Changi (Asia"s leading airport), Costa Cruises (leading cruise line) and the Indian Maharaja (leading luxury train service).

Graham E Cooke, founder and president of the World Travel Awards, said: "The level of competition here in Asia is exceptional and it is no wonder that the region is leading the world out of recession.

"As the Commonwealth Games draws to a climax, millions around the world have not merely enjoyed world-class action on the athletics track, they have witnessed India coming of age, with Delhi proving its credentials as a world-class sport tourism hub."
