Japan Challenging France To Be Worlds Food Capital
Japan "challenging France to be world"s food capital" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Japan"s national tourism agency has claimed that the country is challenging France to be the culinary capital of the world, following the release of the new Michelin guide to Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe.
The Asian nation now has 23 restaurants with three Michelin stars, compared with 26 in France.
In the new guide, 12 establishments have been awarded three stars, 46 have been given two and 185 have one.
The publication will be released in Japan this month, while the English version will arrive in the UK in January 2011.
Kylie Clark, PR and marketing manager at the Japanese National Tourism Organisation, said: "Kobe is already on the world"s culinary map for its delicious beef from pampered cows. We are sure that Michelin awarding Kobe 50 Michelin stars will encourage even more gourmet travellers to visit this beautiful city.
"At the three-Michelin-starred Ca Sento in Kobe, lunch is available from 4,500 yen (£35) and 106 restaurants in the new guide offer meals for [a] maximum [of] £40 per person, showing that even luxury Japan offers great value."
The Michelin Tokyo 2011 guide, due for release in November, will feature the first stars for the cities of Yokohama and Kamakura.
