London To Get New Hotel Next To O2
London to get new hotel next to O2 by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The construction of a new hotel next to London"s famous O2 venue has been approved.
Greenwich Council has given planning permission for the new venue on the Greenwich Peninsula, the home of the iconic dome-shaped music and sports venue.
Planning was granted for a 452-bedroom hotel, a tower of 100 serviced apartments and a 3,000 sq ft ballroom, which will be used as an events space, Greenwich.co.uk reports.
The new building will have a larger capacity than Greenwich"s Holiday Inn, Novotel and Devonport House hotels combined.
The Greenwich Peninsula Masterplan of 2004 expected the hotel building to being the tallest building on the peninsula but architect Philip Sandilands from Lifschulz Davvidson Sandilands said that the planned structure was "overbearing".
The site is not far from where the 2012 Olympics will be held and with hotel prices in London set to climb ahead of the sports event, booking a hotel in advance is advised.
