New Melbourne flights "great news" for UK travellers by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Royal Brunei Airlines is set to launch a new service to Melbourne that has been described as "great news for UK visitors to Australia".
The carrier will introduce a route providing four weekly flights from London Heathrow to Melbourne via Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei on 29 March 2011.
Following the launch, travellers will be able to choose from 14 weekly services to three cities in Australia with the airline, with links to Perth and Brisbane already available.
Riaz Moiz, Royal Brunei Airlines" executive vice-president of commercial and planning, said the launch would meet demand for travel to Melbourne from the UK and also boost Brunei"s profile as a stopover destination.
Chris Woodruff, chief executive officer of Melbourne airport, said: "This is great news for UK visitors to Australia, who can now enjoy the delights of the state of Victoria, either stopping over in Borneo to experience the Sultanate of Brunei en-route, or simply flying on directly to Melbourne.
"The importance of international air services from the UK to Melbourne and Victoria cannot be overstated."
Melbourne is home to attractions such as Luna Park and the Royal Botanic Gardens.
