Record September For Heathrow
Record September for Heathrow by Cheap Flights Booker UK
BAA has announced that London Heathrow experienced its busiest September on record last month.
The airport operator revealed that more than 6.2m people flew from the hub during the month, an increase of 7.6% from September 2009.
This is the largest year-on-year monthly rise in traffic at the airport since July 2004.
Heathrow"s routes to destinations that are not served from any other UK airport proved particularly popular, with passenger numbers on flights to Brazil, Russia and China climbing by 27.1%, 23.7% and 10.3% respectively.
The most popular locations accessible from the airport were New York, Dubai and Dublin.
Colin Matthews, chief executive of BAA, said: "Heathrow"s record September figures underline that transport links are vital to our economy.
"The growth reflects an improved outlook for our airline customers and an increase in business confidence, as shown by cargo figures which continue to outperform the pre-recession peak."
Passenger numbers across all of BAA"s UK airports reached nearly 10m in September, up 3.3% from the previous year.
