Self-service airports "a popular option" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Holidaymakers heading off on flights to various corners of the world believe having self-service check-in options at the airport would make their travel experience more enjoyable.

A new study undertaken by Societe Internationale de Telecommunications Aeronautiques (SITA) revealed that while airline passengers were keen for self-service immigration and security initiatives to be put into place at worldwide airports, they were not sure how such measures would work.

Flyers at seven major airports around the world, including those at Moscow, Mumbai and Johannesburg, were questioned for the study, with 74% saying they had used self-service methods – such as buying their flight online – to purchase their tickets.

Cathy Stam, portfolio manager for SITA, explained: "The message from passengers is that airlines should implement a multi-channel approach to direct customer service not just for flights but also for ancillary services such as hotel bookings and car hire."

However, just 3% of the 2,500 people questioned said they would use mobile phone check in.
