Abu Dhabi hotel to focus on sustainability by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) has announced details of a new hotel that will serve as a showcase for sustainable accommodation in the emirate.
Preparatory work has started for the planned five-star property at Al Ain Wildlife Park and Resort and tendering for its development is also underway.
Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, chairman of the ADTA, announced details of the project at the inaugural World Green Tourism Abu Dhabi exhibition and conference.
He said that the property will be "a showcase for sustainable hospitality" and will allow guests to "stay in total harmony with nature and wildlife".
"The hotel at Al Ain Wildlife Park and Resort is being designed to the highest green building standards. It will be the first hotel to be assessed by Estidama under its pearl rating scheme," Sheikh Sultan added.
"We expect it to achieve a four-pearl rating. When the trial is complete, ADTA will absorb these green hotel standards into its hotel classification system."
The ADTA chairman also referred to a recent survey carried out by YouGov in the UK and the Middle East which found that two in five people are willing to spend more money on eco-friendly holidays.
