BA confirms London to San Diego flights by Cheap Flights Booker UK

British Airways will introduce a new route from London Heathrow to the California city of San Diego in June 2011.

Described by the airline as the "first benefit" of the joint business agreement with American Airlines and Iberia, the non-stop daily flights to the city on America"s west coast will be operated by Boeing 777 aircraft offering a choice of three classes.

The service will be based at Heathrow"s Terminal 5, which has the capacity to handle up to 30m passengers a year and has already "transformed" the customer experience at the airport, according to BA.

Kevin Burns, the airline"s regional director for the western US and western Canada, said: "Inaugurating non-stop flights between San Diego and London is one of the first tangible benefits of the joint business operation with American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia, and we are pleased to be returning to this beautiful city."

The announcement was welcomed by San Diego mayor Jerry Sanders, who said that British travellers now have a direct connection to the US city"s "sunny skies, sandy beaches and countless cultural attractions".
