Bright Period Ahead For Eurozone
"Bright period ahead" for eurozone by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Holiday destinations in the eurozone will perform well over the coming year, a travel expert has predicted.
Ian Bradley, a spokesman for the Association of Independent Tour Operators (Aito), said that countries such as Spain, Portugal, France and Italy will benefit from the fact that the pound has recovered some of its value against the euro.
Mr Bradley also highlighted the recent increase in air passenger duty as a factor that could make people think twice about travelling to long-haul destinations in regions such as South America, the US and Asia.
He said: "I think people will be staying closer to home [for a good value holiday] - within the eurozone."
"I think you"ll find that the next 12 months will be a much brighter period for the eurozone countries than the last 12 to 18 months," he added.
According to a recent report from the Office for National Statistics, UK residents took 3% more trips abroad in the three months from July to September 2010 than in the previous quarter.
