Previous winners of the accolade include Cradle of Humankind in South Africa and Loanga National Park in Gabon.
Margaret MacDiarmid, British Columbia"s tourism minister, said the award is "further proof" that the province is "one of the top international tourist destinations".
She added: "In British Columbia we take deep pride in our rich Aboriginal heritage.
"The Haida Heritage Centre is an exemplary cultural tourism attraction that showcases the legacy of our great province and provides a first-rate experience for our visitors through the outstanding presentation of First Nations" monuments, culture and history."
Travellers can catch flights to Vancouver or Victoria to reach British Columbia and will find the centre on Haida Gwaii, also known as the Queen Charlotte Islands.
