Delta to offer free Wi-Fi to 11m customers by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Delta Airlines will say a "holiday thank you" to its customers by providing free inflight Wi-Fi to some 11m people over the coming months.
The carrier has teamed up with Google Chrome to offer web services on flights equipped with the Gogo Inflight Internet service between 20 November this year and 2 January 2011.
With about 540 Wi-Fi-enabled aircraft currently operating some 2,200 flights in the US every day, more than 11m customers are expected to benefit from the free internet access.
Tim Mapes, Delta"s senior vice-president of marketing, said: "Our frequent travellers live with us in the air much of the year, and we are always looking for ways to say "thank you" for their business.
"Our holiday promotion with Google"s Chrome browser team allows us to offer our customers free Wi-Fi as a small token of appreciation while also making it easier for them to squeeze last-minute shopping into their hectic schedules or connect with family members as they head home for the holidays."
The airline began installing wireless internet technology on its aircraft in autumn 2008 and now operates the world"s largest fleet of Wi-Fi-enabled planes.
