Eastern Europe Cheapest Option For Family Skiing
Eastern Europe "cheapest option for family skiing" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Families hoping to take a skiing holiday this winter without breaking the bank have been advised to consider visiting an eastern European country.
According to the Post Office Family Ski Resort Report 2010, resort prices in Europe and North America have risen by up to 15%, meaning travellers can halve the cost of their trip by heading to destinations such as Bulgaria and Slovenia.
Bansko in Bulgaria was highlighted as the cheapest option for parents planning to take their children skiing, with a price of £1,002 for ten "holiday essentials" - less than half the £2,015 recorded in Wengen, Switzerland.
Slovenia"s Kranjska Gora was found to be the cheapest option in the eurozone, while Ellmau in Austria was the lowest-priced resort in the "big four" European skiing destinations - France, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.
Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Money, said: "Although resort prices have risen across the board this year, there is still good value to be found if parents plan trips carefully.
"Resort switching to cheaper options like Bansko or Kranjska Gora, which have benefited from heavy investment in ski facilities, can have a massively beneficial impact on the family purse."
