New Airport To Make Ecuador More Accessible
New airport to make Ecuador more accessible by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Travellers will benefit from easier access to Ecuador next year when a new international airport opens in the capital city of Quito.
The new hub will represent a "major aviation development" for the destination and for Latin America as a whole, according to the Quito Visitors Bureau.
It will be situated in the Tababela and Puembo areas, in a location about 25km east of the city centre that will allow airlines to fill their planes more efficiently than at the existing airport, which has a high altitude and a short runway.
The new international gateway will be capable of handling more than 4m passengers per year and will include secure parking areas, state-of-the-art operations technology and modern security standards.
Luz Elena Coloma, general manager of Quito Turismo, said: " Following the opening of our new airport, we expect to see business and leisure traffic to Quito and throughout the country grow substantially year-on-year.
"Quito as a gateway city for the rest of Ecuador and indeed Latin America will further boost the local economy as the city"s existing infrastructure is well adapted to capitalise on the business the new airport will deliver."
