Royal Wedding A Major Boost For British Tourism

Royal wedding "a major boost" for British tourism by Cheap Flights Booker UK

British tourism will receive a "major boost" from the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton, according to the national tourism agency.

VisitBritain chief executive Sandie Dawe said that the royal wedding is set to attract more interest than that of Prince Charles and Diana in 1981, which was watched by almost 1bn television viewers.

After their marriage in spring or summer 2011, the couple will live in north Wales, where Prince William is serving with the RAF, meaning destinations such as the Dee valley, the market town of Llangollen, Snowdonia National Park and Caernarfon Castle will receive a boost in profile.

VisitBritain also highlighted the "happy coincidence" of the wedding taking place in the year before the Queen"s diamond jubilee and the London Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.

Ms Dawe commented: "The royal wedding is set to deliver a welcome boost not just to the tourism industry in London but across Britain. It will give VisitBritain a wonderful opportunity to showcase Britain in the lead up to the 2012 Games.

"We are already talking to the rights-holding broadcasters and the marriage in 2011 gives a further unparalleled chance to tell the world what we have to offer as a tourism destination."
