Royal wedding to create "travel bonanza" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Abta - The Travel Association has predicted a holiday "bonanza" next spring following the announcement of 29 April 2011 as the date of Prince William and Kate Middleton"s wedding.
The day has been declared a bank holiday, meaning British workers will have a total of four days off work between 22 April and 2 May next year.
Abta pointed out that people planning a holiday will only have to book three extra days" leave for almost two weeks off.
A number of destinations are expected to benefit from the interest in William and Kate, such as St Andrews, the historic university town on the east coast of Scotland where they met, and Kenya, where the prince popped the question.
The royal couple have also spent time in the Seychelles and enjoyed skiing holidays in Switzerland.
Sean Tipton, Abta"s senior press officer, said: "The travel industry is united in wishing the happy couple a wonderful wedding and we know our customers will take full advantage of their gift to us of an extra day"s holiday, which will mean they only need to book three days" leave for an 11-day break."
