Tuscany "still most popular holiday region in Italy" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Tuscany continues to be the leading holiday region in Italy for UK travellers, according to a major trade survey.

The Association of British Travel Organisers to Italy (ABTOI) released a report showing that 55% of UK operators named Tuscany as the top area for bookings between July and September this year.

Interest in the destination increased strongly from the previous quarter, leaving bookings for other regions trailing behind.

The ABTOI pointed out that the British love affair with Tuscany has been going on for many years and shows no signs of stopping.

Association member Lisa Leggate said: "From the visitors" standpoint, the region offers a rich combination of culture, historic cities, agreeable climate and friendly locals - it encapsulates everything that is beautiful about Italy."

Umbria was the second most popular Italian holiday area in the third quarter of this year, accounting for 34% of bookings reported by surveyed companies, followed by Campania (26%) and Sicily (26%).
