New festival to celebrate French cuisine by Cheap Flights Booker UK
A new festival will be inaugurated in France later this year to celebrate the country"s cuisine and provide an opportunity for visitors to sample a range of food and drink.
Atout France, the national tourism development agency, announced that the Festival of French Gastronomy has been organised for 23 September.
Visitors will be able to visit restaurants all over the country to take advantage of bargain prices and choose from menus representing the wealth and diversity of local food.
The event was announced by Frederic Lefebvre, secretary of state for tourism, to celebrate the news that French cuisine has been added to Unesco"s Intangible Heritage list, which celebrates various traditions, institutions and customs around the world.
Unesco has recognised the country"s gastronomic offerings as well as the culture of bringing close friends and family members together to enjoy a meal and spend time with one another.
The organisation"s Intangible Heritage list also includes organisations and events such as the Royal Ballet of Cambodia and Mexico"s Day of the Dead festival.
