Boeing has reached another milestone in its programme to bring the 787 Dreamliner into service by completing the aircraft"s 1,000th test flight.
The journey was officially completed when 787 flight test plane ZA004 landed at Yuma airport in Arizona this week.
Seven aircraft are currently participating in the trial programme and have flown more than 1m miles over a period of nearly 3,000 hours.
Scott Fancher, vice president and general manager of the 787 programme, said the test team is making "great progress".
He added: "We are getting through the test conditions needed to certify this aeroplane, with nearly 80% of the conditions for the first model, with Rolls-Royce engines, already complete.
"And we"re more than 60% of the way through the test conditions for the 787s with General Electric engines."
Boeing"s 787 Dreamliner will compete with the Airbus A380, the largest passenger plane currently in commercial service.
The A380 is used by carriers such as Singapore Airlines, Emirates and Air France.
