Britons Urged To Check Passports
Britons urged to check passports by Cheap Flights Booker UK
UK citizens planning a holiday abroad this year are being urged to check they have a valid passport in advance of their trip.
According to the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) and Abta - The Travel Association, a quarter of people are expected to have booked Easter and summer holidays by the end of February.
Demand for foreign travel is expected to be particularly high this year owing to the announcement of an additional bank holiday on 29 April to mark the royal wedding.
The IPS reminded holidaymakers to check that their passport will be valid for at least another six months after the time of their trip, as this is a requirement in some foreign countries.
People applying for an adult passport for the first time are advised that the process can take approximately six weeks to complete.
Mark Tanzer, chief executive of Abta, said: "Renewing or getting a new passport now will help you avoid unnecessary worry and expense, even if you still have up to six months validity left as this will be added to your new passport.
"Don"t run the even worse risk of losing your holiday - apply now to also avoid the last-minute summer rush for passports."
