French Ski Resorts Still Most Popular
French ski resorts "still most popular" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Ski resorts in France remain the most popular option for winter sports enthusiasts from the UK, new search engine statistics suggest.
Bing.co.uk revealed that Chamonix, Morzine and Tignes in France are the most searched for skiing destinations, with Meribel also appearing in the top five.
Banff in Canada was the only resort outside the European country to make it into the top five, featuring in fourth place.
Val Thorens, La Plagne and Courchevel in France were also ranked among the ten most popular winter sports locations based on searches conducted on Bing.co.uk, with Aspen in the US and Verbier in Switzerland completing the top ten.
The Microsoft search engine released the list to coincide with the launch of a new visual search function allowing internet users to see colour images of hundreds of different resorts and get instant information on popular skiing destinations around the world.
Bing spokesperson Tamsin Todd said: "The last-minute skiing holiday is something that many money-saving Brits are all too familiar with. More often than not though, choosing the right place is hard and trudging through tiresome lists of options and places to go is time-consuming.
"At Bing UK we wanted to create a gallery that would be useful for every winter thrillseeker, from those travelling on their own to groups of friends and families of every skill level."
