Iceland Welcomes More Brits In January

Iceland welcomes more Brits in January by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Iceland proved a popular destination among British travellers in January, according to figures released by the national tourist board.

The statistics show that the number of UK visitors to the country increased by 5% to 4,526 last month, compared to 4,312 in January 2010.

According to official airport figures, Iceland welcomed its highest ever number of foreign visitors in a one-month period in January, with approximately 22,000 travellers arriving in the country.

The figure marks a year-on-year increase of 18.5% in total arrivals.

As well as revealing the destination"s growing popularity among holidaymakers, the Icelandic Tourist Board highlighted a new and unusual accommodation option that will soon be available - a former biscuit factory that has been turned into a hostel.

Due to open to guests in April this year, the property is located within walking distance of the bars, clubs and music venues of Reykjavik.

Hostel Kex - which is Icelandic for biscuit - will offer facilities including a cafe and bar, a lounge area, free Wi-Fi and a heated outdoor patio.
