Travellers planning a trip to Kenya will soon be offered a new experience following the opening of Karura Forest.
The forest is located in Nairobi, the capital of the African country, and borders the Runda, Gigiri and Muthaiga estates.
It is due to open to the public on 26 February ahead of an official inauguration by Kenyan president Mwai Kibaki.
Experiences on offer to visitors in the forest include seeing the Mau Mau caves, scenic waterfalls and wildlife including monkeys.
The area is also home to picnic sites and will offer a range of excursions and tours.
Muriithi Ndegwa, managing director of the Kenya Tourist Board, said the opening of the forest represents a major project for the national organisation and an important milestone for the tourism industry.
"Kenya Tourist Board has provided significant sponsorship in the form of services and financial support to ensure this is a huge success and all parties benefit," he added.
Other popular attractions in Nairobi include the city"s national park and Railway Museum.
