Lonely Planet Launches Audio Walking Tours
Lonely Planet launches audio walking tours by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Lonely Planet has launched a new series of audio walking tours for use on the iPhone.
In what is described as a "first-of-its-kind partnership", the travel guide publisher has teamed up with production company AudioGO to provide recommendations and also share material from the BBC archive.
The audio tours take listeners on recommended routes and provide Lonely Planet reviews and commentary along the way.
Apps are currently available for five popular areas in London: Covent Garden, Southbank, Spitalfields, the City and the West End.
Lonely Planet"s vice president of wireless services, Jeremy Kreitler, said: "The apps are an exciting new innovation which enable travellers to hear and read about the top attractions in some of the most fascinating areas of a city.
"This is the first mobile product which we have created without using any pre-existing book content. It has been created with the on-the-go traveller in mind."
Walking tours of Paris will be added to the series soon.
The applications work offline, meaning users can avoid roaming charges when they are travelling abroad.
